Rocky Mount Climbing Up Ranks of Safest Cities in North Carolina

Safest-Cities-North-Carolina-

With an influx of new business coming to town and more specifically, a concerted effort being put forth both by local authorities and citizens working hand in hand to make Rocky Mount a great place to raise a family, the results are showing up positive, as the city has climbed into the upper 50 percent state wide in the recently released 2019 National Council for Home Safety and Security’s (NCHSS) annual poll of the Safest Cities in North Carolina.

At the official site of the NCHSS (alarms.org) it goes into very specific detail in explaining the process which found Rocky Mount placing number 31 among all municipalities across the state among the Safest Cities in North Carolina.

“To identify the safest cities in North Carolina,” it reads at alarms.org, “we reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics. A total of 7,639 cities were factored into this ranking with populations ranging from 7,639 to 4,007,147. However, we eliminated any cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI and removed cities with populations under 10,000.”

Continuing in the explanation on how the final rankings for the 2019 Safest Cities in North Carolina rtings were determined , the NCHSS says, “Overall, data from 8,793 law enforcement agencies that represented more 193 million of the US population helped us draw interesting insights between the size of the police force and incidence of crime.”

The two main classes in which all municipalities were judged were obviously, violent or non-violent crimes. Defined as being composed of four offenses, murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are violent crimes. Being analyzed as non-violent crimes were property crimes or theft-type crimes with no force or threat of harm to the victim.

Rocky Mount’s non-violent crime rate scored very high as opposed to many of the other municipalities and likewise, the city has seen a continued decrease in the number of violent crimes consistently over the past several years. These combined factors can be attributed to the city moving up on the list of safest Cities in North Carolina.

Custom Home Design Trends to Consider When Building at Belmont Lake Preserve

Custom Home Design Trends

As 2016 heads into the end of summer and toward the fall, there are several popular Custom Home Design Trends that have become increasingly popular, that you may want to consider as work through the building and construction process at your new home at Belmont Lake Preserve in Rocky Mount.

The kitchen as many of you know has become one of the main focal points not only when building a new home, but also among the Custom Home Design Trends that have been noted throughout 2016 thus far. One such trend that has consistently remained popular in kitchens this year is “white on white spaces.” This “clean look” with the usage of white cabinets with a light colored or white counter top or back splash has returned in a big way. The main factor attributing to making this one of the most frequently seen of 2016’s Custom Home Design Trends, is the overall desire of new home buyers and builders to use the kitchen as the center of the home for entertaining guests, as the brightness of the “white on white” helps in opening up and making the appear large.

Double islands in the kitchen is another of this year’s Custom Home Design Trends that has seen many who have built a new home include, for much of the same reason. One island for seating and entertaining, with a second for much of the same and in some cases even for a sink, makes for more overall space when trying to be a good host.

As far as Custom Home Design Trends in regards to flooring this year, reclaimed lumber continued to be the choice of many. First gaining major popularity a few years back, this eco-friendly option in floors adds a unique look, and a bit of character and personality also.

It was not very long ago that brass fixtures in a newly built home were considered outdated and less than savory as far as Custom Home Design Trends go. However, they are back with a vengeance this year, mainly due to how “unique look of the brass when partnered with a more contemporary style fixture.

Continuing to take priority among the new homeowners in 2016 was a focus on indoor/outdoor living spaces. As is commonplace here among each of the Custom Home Design Trends discussed, this too plays into the open space concept that has become so important in recent years. Allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to flow seamlessly such as an outdoor living room type area around a fireplace or the indoor dining area opening to a patio space.

With these and so many other Custom Home Design Trends to consider in building a home at Belmont Lake Preserve, you can add some of these ideas to the existing floor plans or discuss other ideas with the builder team working on your new house. The article was written by Moria McGarvey, the founder of GangsAway.com, which is the Huffington Post’s website dedicated strictly to helping plan one’s retirement. In ranking the top ten Best U.S. Cities for Retirement for Pet Owners, McGarvey noted looking at communities that were “tailor-made” for those with dogs and other pets. She explained the many benefits of having a dog especially as one nears their retirement years, saying, “They can be especially beneficial as we age, for all the reasons you might surmise: companionship, protection, and exercise. Exercise is a big one,” she continued, “and let’s face it, dogs walk us. Getting out for a good walk, socializing at the dog park, chatting with another dog family at the coffee shop — these are all good things, but especially helpful if your inclinations might otherwise be solitary and sedentary.”

In the survey’s ranking of Rocky Mount among the Best U.S. Cities for Retirement for pet owners, it went further to explain the process in naming these communities to the list, saying, “We’ve looked at all the top lists and selected the best dog friendly towns that are also good retirement towns.” Speaking more specifically to Rocky Mount’s inclusion to the list of the Best U.S. Cities for Retirement for Pet Owners, the piece detailed three main points.

First, it spoke of Sisters Two Pet Crew Inc., which is highly acclaimed for its “Pet boarding,” in-home pet sitting, and their training or exercise programs for animals.
