Rocky Mount City Lake and Park: “A Place for us to Come Together”

The ‘bridge to the island’ is what this path has become known as at Rocky Mount City Lake and Park

City Lake is located off Sunset Avenue at the Tar River and was constructed in 1937. It is a part of the city’s rich history and has undergone many facelifts over the years.

In 1993, the city gave this area a completely new, beautification project. This is what became known as City Lake Park. After the expansion, there is a half-mile concrete track surrounding City Lake for runners and walkers to enjoy.

Looking for a more peaceful and serene day at the park? Enjoy the shade from the tall hardwoods and pines while you feed the exotic waterfowl living around the lake.

Likewise, enjoy all the parks other amenities, including a gazebo, piers, a bridge to the island, and a fountain. City Lake and Park are truly one of the most beautiful sites of all Rocky Mount NC Parks. Called “a place for us to come together,” City Lake and Park has become a symbol of the Rocky Mount area.
